Our City, Our Home.
If you love New York as much as we do, you know that the ongoing tales about the demise of our city in the early days of the pandemic were difficult to hear. A group of die-hard New Yorkers decided to act to change that narrative by focusing on what we all know is the city’s beating heart: New York’s creative community. New York is about grit and hustle, and so are we. We are a grassroots army of volunteers who have come together to create the next New York: #NYCNext. Our goal is simple: To help the city we love recover and rebuild, and to energize and inspire others to act by creating moments of joy. If you love NYC, this is a chance to give back and make a positive impact on the place we call home.

FAQs
-
A Fiscal Sponsorship enables us to quickly achieve our mission(s) by soliciting tax-deductible donations, applying for and making grants, hosting fundraisers/events, and operating mission-driven programs. By operating through a fiscal sponsor’s 501(c)(3) status, the administrative burden of having our own foundation is handled by GenEquality who also provides financial oversight and ensures compliance.
-
Yes, aside from some overhead we are covering for the Fiscal Sponsor. The group is run by volunteers who are donating their time.
-
The funds raised will be used to cover hard costs of doing the pop up events (producing the events, paying artists, etc.) and for donations to related charities (e.g. New York Cares, Actors Fund, Broadway Cares)
-
We will pay artists and those that help us put on events
We will not pay ourselves (ourselves = the main volunteers)
We will pay those who help us with logistics/projects as needed (i.e. CRM, event production, materials)
In addition to paying the artists, we will give back to the local community at every event (this will start as a partnership with New York Cares but could expand to SMB grants, etc.)

The mission for this group of New Yorkers is to help build the next New York— a better and more equitable place for all. We do that by coming together in brand new ways and harnessing our creative energy and irrepressible spirit to produce New York moments of joy, while also giving back to the artists, neighborhoods, and people who make our city home. We will solidify our long term plans as we begin to execute and learn.
